Signing up for Spotify Student with an .edu email
Region availability, SheerID verification, and what to expect at renewal.
Spotify Premium Student offers a discounted Premium plan to students at accredited higher-education institutions. It is available in many, but not all, countries, and in some regions it includes extras such as Hulu (with ads).
How verification works
Spotify uses SheerID to confirm enrollment. You enter your name, school, and date of birth; SheerID checks this against school records. If it can't confirm automatically, you'll be asked to upload a document such as a class schedule or tuition receipt for the current term.
Is an .edu email required?
Not usually. Verification is based on your enrollment, not your email domain, so an email address alone won't qualify you. Use the email you check most so you receive the confirmation and renewal reminders.
Renewal every 12 months
- You must re-verify each year, for up to 4 years.
- If you don't re-verify, your plan switches to regular Premium pricing.
- Graduated? Expect the standard price at your next renewal.
Region availability
Check Spotify's student page from your country to confirm the offer is available. The plan must match the country of your account and your school.
